The Energy Network is designed to promote and inform the efficient use of energy in water and wastewater treatment, and identify opportunities for power generation within the water industry. It is a collaboration of academic institutions, the UK water industry, government departments and organisations involved in promoting improved energy management within industry.

The Network functions through Technical meetings and Workshops which are open to Network members only and via conferences and short conferences which are open to anyone. Should you wish to join the Network, click on the application link below.

Network Aims

• To establish a non-competitive network to encourage multidisciplinary research, development and education in the sustainable use of energy in the water industry'
• To encourage the transfer of ideas and best practice and to develop improved engineering and management for the sustainable use of energy to include the following areas:
• energy efficiency and control measures
• use of cleaner fuels and renewable energy
• development of low energy water and wastewater treatment processes
• optimising use and production of renewable energy
• abatement of energy related emissions
• development of process strategies to examine best use of energy inputs to the treatment process flow-sheet and benchmarking of power consumption performance
• examining energy balances across sites to develop appropriate energy management systems
• to identify a coherent medium and long-term research programme in the sustainable use of energy for the water industry so that a working research community can be established.
• To disseminate the activities of network through websites, technical meetings and conferences to promote best practice and meet selected training needs.
